Thank you for visiting my Falmouth Road Race® runner site! I am excited to be participating in this event to raise funds for Compassionate Care ALS.
Compassionate Care ALS was a huge support to my step-father, Teddy.
Teddy was diagnosed with ALS in December 2010 and fought every single twenty-four hour day his absolute hardest. He always remained optimistic, often comforting those who worried about him. He never dwelled on the limitations that ALS gave him-- he embraced them, accepted the challenges and always had a solution to over come them. He continued to amaze us throughout his six year battle. He drove with a hand adapted vehicle, he joined a curling club (and was pretty darn good)-- he even practiced often with the US paralympic team. He took his service dog Dune on long adventures around the neighborhood. Teddy even built his own ramp-while being confined to a wheelchair. Seriously....he was badass. Teddy was an amazing husband, father, step-father (he hated the term "step"), grandfather, brother, dog father, and the very best friend. Teddy passed away on November 22, 2016 in his own home. We all miss him terribly, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. It will be hard running this year without having him physically standing at mile 5 cheering us on. But, I know he will be there with us.
Raising funds from the Falmouth Road Race will allow CCALS to continue to provide direct services and durable goods to ALS patients, their families, and their caregivers. Please give generously and assist us in making a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS.
