Family and Friends,
It is that time of year again! I am running the Falmouth Road Race for the 3rd consecutive year to raise funds for Compassionate Care ALS in remembrance of my dad, John.
My dad was an incredible father and person and I will never forget him. I am still not a runner and every year post race I say “never again” but then it comes around again and I can’t pass it up (a 7-mile run on a hot August day doesn't seem that bad today). Honestly I find this race to be the best way for me personally to keep my dad’s memory alive and continue to process my grief while giving back to others, an important part of his life. It has also become a tradition for my mom and me to spend time with our friends and family on this weekend, including those we met along the way with CCALS. It has been a trying year for us and the fact that I can physically participate in this race is not lost on me.
I continue to chose to run for CCALS because they help meet the immediate needs that people with ALS and their loved ones face. The money that you have helped us raise the last two years and this upcoming year goes directly to families in the form of durable medical equipment, communication devices, portable showers, transportation and much more. Along with the practical items, comes the guidance and emotional support from Ron and Erin. It is heart wrenching work and with ALS there is always the same ending.
I have enjoyed watching CCALS grow their services over the last few years to include a house call program through a partnership with Mass General Hospital as well as an Education and Retreat Center for people with ALS and their families. The Falmouth Road Race is an essential part of CCALS’s fundraising.
Please consider joining me and CCALS help support people with ALS and their families. I know many of you have contributed the last two years and I cannot thank you enough. Each one of your generous contributions means more to me than I could ever express in words. The fundraising portion of this is the most intimidating part for me but your money is going to the best place imaginable. Any size donation is incredibly generous and would be greatly appreciated.
