Family and Friends,
I am incredibly excited to share that I will be running the Falmouth Road Race for the 2nd consecutive year to raise funds for Compassionate Care ALS in remembrance of my dad, John. Last year my personal goal was to raise enough money to qualify to run the race and of course to complete race. I am so incredibly grateful to those of you who donated and helped me to surpass my goal, raising $3160.00! This year my goal is to raise more money and finish the race with a little better time.
I am choosing to run again because I have found this experience to be a positive and meaningful way to honor, remember and celebrate the life of my incredible father, John. I fundraise for this race starting in March (my father's birthday month) through the weekend of the race, August 20 (just a few weeks shy of the 2nd anniversary of his passing). Cape Cod is a place where we made many memories vacationing as a family, including some of our final ones. Running allows me to quietly reflect on those memories. Last year I spent the weekend of the race at the Sea Crest in Falmouth making more memories celebrating with family and friends, including my friends from CCALS.
I have chosen to run for CCALS because it was Ron and Erin who patiently and supportively taught us how to navigate through our new post ALS diagnosis world. While there are many organizations that fundraise to support ALS, including research for a cure(which we all wish and hope to see) CCALS helps meet the immediate needs of the real world problems people with ALS and their loved ones face. The money raised last year and the money we will raise this year goes directly to families in the form of durable medical equipment, communication devices, portable showers, transportation and much more. Along with the practical items, comes the love and guidance of Ron, Erin and the team at CCALS.
Please consider joining me and CCALS help support people with ALS and their families. Any size donation is incredibly generous and would be greatly appreciated.
