Fighting with Franny | Ashley Regan

Friends and Family,

Thank you for visiting my Falmouth Road Race® runner site! I am excited to be participating in this event to raise funds for Compassionate Care ALS.

In May of 2016, my uncle Franny was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). ALS is a progressive neurological disease that causes dysfunction of the nerves that control muscle movement. Over time, this disease leads to muscle weakness, gradually affecting how the body functions, which eventually leaves you paralyzed. ALS has no known cause or cure, but with a little help to make awareness of this horrible disease, we are one step closer to fighting it!

After receiving this devastating news of my uncle’s diagnosis, I knew I had to do something to make his fight a little more comforting. I am incredibly excited to announce that I will be running this year’s Falmouth Road Race to raise money for Compassionate Care ALS in honor of my Uncle Franny. For those who are not familiar with CCALS, it is a nonprofit organization that offers a broad range of services both psychical and emotional, to help support people with ALS and their families. This organization provides resources that insurance does not cover including equipment, medical assistance, educational workshops, caregiving, guidance and awareness in living with ALS. With love and support from the co-founder of this organization, Ron Hoffman and his amazing staff, we have a sense of comfort to get through this tough time.

There are many uncertainties that lie ahead with our family, but the time is to act now while this disease is still manageable. Please help me raise money to support not only my uncle Franny, but other people who have ALS and their families! Every donation is incredibly generous, extremely helpful, and goes directly to families who are in need of equipment and care. With your help, we are one step closer to making the lives of people fighting ALS that much easier! Let’s fight ALS together!

With so much love,

Dedication In honor of Franny Hayes
