Raised $2,655 of $2,000 Goal
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the 2021 Falmouth Road Race to support Compassionate Care ALS!
A Year Passed
It’s been a year for all of us spent coping with all the challenges of Covid. For my family, it has been more than a year that we got a diagnosis for Steve of ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. It has been a slow degradation in mobility and strength. With a strong community of support, we are spending each day feeling loved and making each day as fulfilling as possible.
Steve is managing to accept the challenges and accepted that adaptive equipment is helping him to increase safety and independence to do his daily routines. We are especially grateful for our team at Mass General Hospital, the Marion Council on Aging, Steve’s general practitioner, Dr. Amy Wiegandt, and Compassionate Care ALS on Cape Cod (CCALS) as well as our family, neighbors, and friends. I don’t know what we would do without these supportive systems being in place. Thank you all.
We recently received an appeal to raise funding for CCALS by forming a team to participate in the Falmouth Road Race in August. Anyone who knows Steve, knows that he was a runner. He ran races by himself, with his family, and friends. He loved the Falmouth Road Race!
So, I’m thinking that if any of you would care to join our team, either by enrolling to run/walk or making a donation to the team, it would be a fantastic way to brighten Steve’s August. I think he would enjoy watching the race knowing of your support of CCALS who have been there for us in coping with this insidious disease.
I am excited to complete this race’s seven miles in support of an organization that means so much to me. Funds raised from Falmouth Road Race allow Compassionate Care ALS to provide direct services and durable goods to ALS patients, their families, and their caregivers. Please give generously and assist us in making a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS!
