Raised $10,725.00 of $2,500 Goal
Four years ago, our mother was diagnosed with ALS. To say that it came as a shock is an understatement; it was devastating. Of the many difficult conversations that followed, one of the hardest was having to explain to her young grandchildren that their beloved Gigi had a disease that would slowly make her body stop working — and no, there is no cure, no medicine she could take to get better.
In the midst of the darkness of those early days, our family began to meet people who gave us hope. We were first connected to the brilliant clinicians at the MGH Healey Center for ALS: pioneers in ALS research and treatment. Through our mother’s MGH team, we learned about Compassionate Care ALS, an organization that provides goods and services to ALS patients and their caregivers completely free of charge. Over the last few years, CCALS has provided our mom with a stair lift, walker, wheelchairs, shower and bath chairs, handrails, and ramps for her home, along with the reassurance that they will continue to support our mother and our family as her disease progresses.
This August — together with Meghan's 13-year-old daughter Emily — we will run the Falmouth Road Race in support of CCALS, an organization that means an enormous amount to our family. We are honored to run these seven miles on behalf of every family navigating what our family knows firsthand is an incredibly hard road. Please consider making a donation to our team — contributions go directly to families who, like ours, need this support.
Thank you so much.
